Why Our Little Wagon Quietly Saves Every Family Session | Savannah Family Photographer

If you’ve had a family session with me lately, chances are you’ve seen the wagon.

And honestly? At this point, she deserves her own employee badge.

Because somewhere between the snacks, backup shoes, bubble machine, baby wipes, extra dresses, and one child who suddenly decides they are physically incapable of walking… that wagon becomes the real MVP of the evening.

Most moms show up to family photos already carrying enough.
Mentally. Physically. Emotionally.

You’re remembering:

  • everyone’s outfits
  • who skipped nap
  • whose shoes are rubbing blisters
  • if someone ate enough protein
  • whether Dad remembered deodorant
  • and somehow still trying to look relaxed in photos

So over the years, I’ve slowly built family sessions to feel less like a production and more like someone helping you carry the load a little.

Literally included.

What’s Actually In the Wagon?

Honestly? A tiny survival kit.

Usually, some combination of:

  • towels
  • baby wipes
  • backup blankets
  • bubbles
  • clips
  • water
  • snacks
  • bandaids
  • bug spray
  • a speaker
  • a step stool
  • hand sanitizer
  • tissues
  • and approximately 47 things moms forgot they needed until the exact moment they needed them

At beach sessions, it hauls all the things across the sand so you don’t have to arrive sweaty and regretting your life choices before we even start.

At outdoor sessions, toddlers ride in it between spots like tiny exhausted CEOs being chauffeured to their next meeting.

At studio sessions? Half the time it becomes a snack station.

Honestly, it’s less of a wagon and more of an emotional support vehicle.

Family Sessions Are Allowed to Feel Easier

I think sometimes people assume family photography is stressful because historically… it kind of was.

Matching outfits.
Bribing kids.
Dragging everyone across a field at sunset while praying nobody melts down.

But beautiful family photos do not require chaos.

I think moms deserve to feel taken care of too.

That’s why so much of my process has quietly become:
“How do we make this easier on mom?”

Sometimes that looks big, like wardrobe guidance or helping you turn your images into albums and frames afterward.

Sometimes it looks small, like:
“Hey, toss that in the wagon.”

And weirdly? Those tiny things are usually what families remember most.

The Kids Usually Think It’s the Best Part

I cannot explain to you how much toddlers love this wagon.

The second they spot it:
instant trust.

It’s basically the VIP lounge of family sessions.

By the end of the night somebody is usually asking:
“Can I ride one more time?”

And honestly… same.

You Don’t Need Perfectly Behaved Kids for Beautiful Family Photos

This is probably the biggest misconception about family sessions.

Parents think:

  • kids need to sit still
  • everyone needs to smile at the camera
  • toddlers need to cooperate the entire time

But the truth is, most great family photos happen somewhere in the middle of the movement.

The snuggles between running.
The laughter after someone makes a silly noise.
Your little boy wrapped around your leg because he suddenly decided he only wants mom.

That’s real family life.

And honestly? That’s usually the stuff worth remembering anyway.

Looking for Family Photos That Feel a Little Less Stressful?

You do not have to arrive perfectly organized.
You do not need children who sit still for 45 minutes.
You do not need to carry the entire evening by yourself.

That’s kind of the whole point.

If you’d like to learn more about our family sessions and how we help make the process feel easier for moms, you can find all the details here.
