Look Like Your Pre-Baby Self on Camera With These Great Tips

So, you’ve got that newborn photoshoot on the horizon, huh? First off, huge congratulations! Welcoming a little one into the world is nothing short of magical. But I know getting in front of the camera post-baby can feel intimidating. Trust me, I’ve been there and felt that. But fear not because I’ve got some tried-and-tested tips to help you feel like the pre-baby you during your photoshoot.

HILL HOUSE NAP DRESS – This is a great option to show off your arms and waist.

Imagine scrolling through your social media feeds, swooning over those enchanting newborn photoshoots. What catches your eye? Dresses with texture, right? Soft ruffles, delicate lace, or those sweet little embroidered details are like magic for enhancing your post-baby body and making you feel like a million bucks in front of the lens.

Now, let’s talk about those waistlines. Remember the waist you used to flaunt? Well, it’s still there, just waiting to be celebrated! Look for dresses that cinch in at your natural waist. Avoid anything that is skin-tight or adds too much bulk to your hips. Soft and flowing is better than poofy.

NOTHING FITS DRESS – Designed with new mom in mind

Okay, let’s talk sleeves—poofy sleeves, to be exact. They’re like a little slice of heaven, adding just the right amount of charm and grace to your photoshoot ensemble. But remember, less is more here. We’re aiming for chic and sophisticated, not overly dramatic. And when it comes to colors, think soft and subtle. We want to complement your natural beauty, not overshadow it!

Now, onto the additional tips:

Avoid Excessive Gathering: Avoid dresses with excessive gathering at the hips, as they can add unwanted bulk to your silhouette. Opt for styles that flatter your shape without adding extra volume.

Play with Necklines: Experiment with different necklines to find one that flatters your post-baby body. V-necklines elongate the torso, while scoop necks highlight your collarbones. Avoid high necks for this photoshoot.

Accessorize Thoughtfully: Use accessories like statement earrings or delicate necklaces to add personality to your outfit. Just remember to keep it balanced and avoid overpowering your look.

Texture Always Works Well

I’ll be the first to admit that shopping online can be daunting. Here are my favorite newborn dresses for this Spring.

Now, I get it about feeling bigger in front of the camera—girl. It’s like the camera adds an extra ten pounds, right? But here’s the thing: it’s all about perspective. Posing can make a difference, and hiring a photographer who can use the right lenses can work wonders. They’ll know all the tricks to highlight your best features and minimize any areas you’re not crazy about. So, trust in the process and realize you are stunning, inside and out.

And of course, if you hate the idea of shopping altogether! Don’t forget that our newborn sessions include access to our client closet! Here is a sneak peek of just a few.
