How Scheduling Works for Your Newborn Session
One of the questions I get asked most is “how does this actually work?” And I love that question because the answer might surprise you — it’s a lot simpler than you think.
Most moms assume a newborn session requires months of coordination and stress. But here’s the truth: we handle almost everything. Your job is just to show up with your baby. Here’s exactly how the process unfolds.

The Planning Phase (Second Trimester)
Start thinking about newborn portraits during your second trimester. I know that feels early, but here’s why it matters: booking early means no rushing. It means we have time to plan every detail without scrambling.
When you’re ready, fill out our inquiry form, and we’ll hop on a call. I know that might sound formal, but a newborn session is intimate. You’re bringing your brand new baby into our space and trusting us to capture one of the most vulnerable, beautiful moments of your life. That kind of trust only happens when you actually connect with someone first. A call takes away those nervous first-time jitters and makes sure we’re a good fit for each other.
Once we book, you’ll get a prep guide with everything you need to know before session day, things like getting your nails done, what to bring for your husband, and any other little details that make the day run smoothly.

The Waiting Game (After You Deliver)
Your baby arrives. You’re home, adjusting, falling in love with this new human. Somewhere in those first few days, send me a text or email. No pressure on timing just whenever feels right.
When I hear from you, I’ll send you a booking link where you can pick your session date. Here’s the important part: your baby needs to be between seven and thirty days old for the session. That’s the sweet spot where newborns are still sleepy, and we can get those classic curled-up poses.
We need a week’s notice to schedule your hair and makeup artist, so keep that timeline in mind. And our sessions run Monday through Friday, starting at ten thirty in the morning.
That’s it. You pick a date, we hold the spot, and we take care of the rest.

Before Session Day
You’ll fill out a questionnaire with your preferred clothing sizes so we can have your wardrobe pulled and ready when you arrive. No decisions to make, no stress about what to wear. We’ve already thought through your color palette, your style, and what flatters you; it’s all waiting for you.
You’ll also get a detailed guide about what to bring (basically just yourselves and your baby), how to prep, and what to expect. Read it if you want, or don’t. We’ll walk you through everything when you get here anyway.
Session Day
You arrive with your baby. We’ve got hair and makeup scheduled. Your wardrobe is laid out. The studio is calm and quiet. Your only job is to be present with your baby and let us handle the rest, the posing, the styling, the technical stuff, all of it.
Most sessions take two to four hours, depending on how many siblings are involved and how much feeding and snuggle time your baby needs. There’s no rush. We move at your baby’s pace.
